The Backline Road

Autumn is giving us some gorgeous weather and so what better than to go off piste again. We went to Otaio Gorge reserve and walked through the bush to the most awesome spot and swimming hole - actually it was the first place Nina swam when we arrived here in 1997! There is a DOC campsite which is pretty neat but it does say No dogs! The reserve is on the Backline road which is shingle all the way!

We then headed west along the road to Mt Nimrod Reserve for lunch and a walk. The bell birds are amazing there and there were these little very black and very yellow birds there. I need to check it out and see what they are. We have recorded the bird song. Great bush walk from the campsite there.

These little cups were given to us by A-Al

And home past our old farm at Cannington - looks good.
The little bright black and yellow birds are South Island tomtits.

  1. I think the back of Poppy's head is hilarious. She loves riding in the van. She sits in the middle on her own sheepskin, and she's really one of the team.
