New Year 2013 to 2014

New Year camping at Blue Rocks - a very long established picnic spot at the Pareora Gorge by the extended family. My memories there are from a very young age. Then, access was courtesy of my parents great friends Wynn and Joan Evans and now it is Peter and Jane - the next generation! The latter who opened electric fences and gave us the most fantastic place to camp just above the river. Thank you both. Was great to have your company later on having consumed a few...

It was Janices first camp without AJ and without a fuss up went the awning and tent with young helpers!
Nick and Sara were in charge of the overall exercise and had plenty of tables, bbqs etc and some clever help from Hamish. Hamish had organised a ute full of wood for a fire and later had asked Janice to drive him up home to pick up some big stand-up speakers and laptop. He then ran a long cable from the generator at the horse truck to the party for music and dancing! As the evening progressed, several other families turned up with food and bbqs. The river had gone down enough, from rain, for all the kids to max the fantastic swimming hole. Sara had a bag full of fireworks which too was spectacular at midnight.

The next day, when some of us were still in bed... Kaye and Graham Kirke turned up in their lycra gear, having just ridden over the gorge, with a tray full of muffins! They then embarked on a huge ride for training. Hmmmm! And they had still been at the party at 1.30am.
Another warm day and relaxing time at the river.

The river had gone down enough to kayak down the rush between the rocks which was fun for the brave!
And that was a one out of the box NY at an old haunt.
